Women in Tech

Women in technology face a gender gap much wider than that faced by women in other sectors, and that is no different for female entrepreneurs in sustainable technology. For instance, the energy industry remains one of the most gender-imbalanced sectors.

Around the world, a number of key initiatives are underway to ensure that women become more visible in dealing with the international climate impacts, financial gains and policy shifts, and take up roles that have been typically male dominated.

One of the goals for North Sweden Cleantech is to improve the equality between men and women in Technology - in particular in Cleantech, and to further the role of women in making a positive impact on the environment.

Diversity is Good for Business

Consulting firm McKinsey reports, that companies in the top quartile in terms of racial and ethnic diversity are 35% more likely to have financial returns above their respective national industry medians, and that those in the top quartile for gender diversity are 15% more likely [Source: Diversity Matters, McKinsey Report]. Makes sense: this is a global, multigenerational, hyper-connected world of work. It’s also highly competitive and in need of all the talent we can find.

Words and Images Matters for a Change to Take Place.

It is important to populate the ‘talent’ pipeline with more women. This change will take time and requires changes in many levels that can be achieved through better communications and recruitment processes, providing more opportunities for women in Cleantech. Words and images matters for a change to take place.

Events and Meeting Places

To achieve its ambition of attracting and engaging more women in the Technology and in Cleantech in particular, we need to have better communication and meeting places.  North Sweden Cleantech will actively be working for a change towards sustainable growth by increasing the number of female entrepreneurs and by reducing the underrepresentation of women in the management workforce. We shall from time to time be actively involved in creating events and meeting places, we call our main event in this area WOMEN WITH IMPACT.
