Umeå welcomes the British Embassy and Department for International Trade

In an event arranged by North Sweden Cleantech and Uminova Innovation hosted Björn Axelsson (pictured, Department for International Trade) and Robert Cooklin (Science & Innovation Network) from the British Embassy in Stockholm.

Topics of discussion included the appointment of an Honorary Consul in Umeå, the growing innovation sector in northern Sweden, and the ongoing process of Britain's exit from the EU. Following the presentations, the Embassy representatives met with local companies.

"There's a lot happening in Umeå, and so much innovation in northern Sweden generally", enthused Robert Cooklin. "We're here to make new local contacts and explore the sector". He also identified the potential for Swedish medtech companies to get involved in the UK health sector, adding: "There are a lot of opportunities both academics and companies in life science to get together".
