"The potential use of green liquor sludge in geopolymers"
Green liquor sludge is one of the main residual streams from the pulp industry. To take full advantage of the residual streams available, new uses must be found. A potential way to use green liquor sludge is to include it in so-called geopolymers, a material that can be likened to cement. In addition to the residual streams being used, geopolymers also have the potential to become a more energy-efficient alternative to cement and concrete in the construction industry.
In this master thesis on assignment by Metsä Board in Husum and in collaboration with RISE Processum and Umeå University, the possibility to include green liquor sludge in geopolymers has been evaluated.
