Groundbreaking Sustainable Aviation Fuel Initiative Enabled by New Partnership
Skellefteå Kraft and SkyNRG have entered into a partnership to produce sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) in Skelleftehamn. The project, called SkyKraft, plans to use biogenic carbon dioxide and renewable hydrogen to produce 100,000 tons of eSAF per year, equivalent to the fuel needed for 60,000 people to fly around the world.
Joachim Nordin, CEO of Skellefteå Kraft, emphasizes that the project aligns with the company’s vision to promote renewable energy and contribute to the green transition. Philippe Lacamp, CEO of SkyNRG, highlights Skellefteå’s unique conditions for eSAF production, including nearly 100% renewable energy and a large supply of biogenic carbon dioxide.
The project is expected to create approximately 100 permanent jobs and contribute to the EU’s climate goals by reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Construction is planned to start in 2027, but a final decision has not yet been made.
