All-Energy is the largest exhibition in the UK for renewable energy and is held annually in Scotland. North Sweden Cleantech was present and made important connections with stakeholders working on the transition to renewable energy.
The exhibition and the meetings that North Sweden Cleantech employees had once again confirmed that green technology and sustainable solutions from northern Sweden belong on the world market. Since All-Energy is the largest exhibition for renewable energy, key players from the British market gather in one place, creating opportunities to connect with important stakeholders. The Umeå-based company Seaflex AB, which manufactures high-quality and flexible mooring systems, shared a booth with North Sweden Cleantech through the Cleantech Kvarken project.
“All-Energy 2018 was a highly interesting meeting place for making contacts within a segment that is rapidly advancing worldwide. Many interesting leads that will hopefully lead to business, with potential for very large projects and important collaborations. Sharing a booth was a cost-effective way to test if a fair is right for one’s company,” says Robin Wilhelmsson, sales manager for Seaflex AB.
Richard Bellingham, head of the Sustainable Cities Institute at Strathclyde University, lectured at the fair, and North Sweden Cleantech had a meeting with him where he explained how to implement the changes needed for Glasgow to develop into a smart, sustainable city. Bellingham believes it is important to have a holistic view, not letting each project be its own island, and to look at what Glasgow needs instead of buying solutions and then looking for the problems they are supposed to solve. Scotland faces major transitions, including the goal of phasing out diesel vehicles eight years earlier than the rest of the UK. This means there is a need for innovative solutions for alternative transport. For the region’s companies, this means business opportunities as the services and products they offer could solve Glasgow’s problems.
