Summary of international technical and business visits

At the annual summation of 2019, it is clear that the interest for Northern Sweden's smart solutions is big. As the northernmost node in the national project Smart City Sweden, North Sweden Cleantech has received 6 delegation visits with 28 participants from 6 different countries.

- A fantastic result and the interest from international groups is constantly growing. We are currently planning for upcoming visits in 2020, says Jenny Åkermark, international business developer and coordinator at North Sweden Cleantech.

When North Sweden Cleantech looks back on 2019, the visits were primarly dominated by waste management and energy, with visits in Umeå, Skellefteå and Örnsköldsvik.

- In 2020, we will continue to increase the number of visit objects in the region and fine-tune the visitor programs. From these international visits comes many exciting business opportunities, says Peter Hedman, Project Manager North Sweden Cleantech.

Smart City Sweden is the national export and investment platform that showcases and demonstrates examples of smart and sustainable city solutions to increase the spread of these internationally. Based on Sweden's export strategy and agenda 2030 goals, Smart City Sweden will contribute to strengthening relations between Swedish companies and potential foreign buyers and investors. As a national initiative, Smart City Sweden links many initiatives under the heading Sustainable smart cities. The platform serves as a meeting place for foreign stakeholders and Swedish companies, expertise, organizations, authorities with a focus on promoting exports. Smart City Sweden is funded by the government and coordinated by the Swedish Energy Agency. The export and investment platform is operated by the IVL Swedish Environment Institute in close cooperation with regional business promotion organizations and private companies.
