Sweden Ranks #1 As Most Innovative Country In the EU

In recently published innovation reports it is concluded that Sweden is the most innovative country in the EU, and third in the world.

The European Commission recently published the 2022 edition of the European Innovation Scoreboard, which is a comparative assessment of research and innovation performance of EU member states and selected third countries. Sweden continues to be ranked at number one and is also on the top of the list of countries identified as “Innovation Leaders” with a performance of 135,7% of the EU average.

The Global Innovation Index tracks the current state of innovation globally and ranks the innovative performance of 132 countries. In Global Innovation Index 2022 Sweden is also ranked as number one in EU and number three in the world, after Switzerland and USA. 

Sweden is a country of strong entrepreneurship and innovations, with companies like IKEA, Volvo, Spotify and Minecraft. The historic tradition of inventors, the high level of education, the social stability, the access to government support, a well-developed infrastructure in data and IT, the close collaboration between research institutes and private and public and sectors, and a high degree of equality are some of the factors making Sweden one of the most innovative economies in the world.
